How We Got Started
Cut Above Enterprises has been operating in the upstate of South Carolina since the mid-1990s. As a college student in 1995, BJ Flora joined Cut Above. After completing an associate’s degree, Flora became a crew leader in the lawn maintenance division and eventually the Operations Manager overseeing 10+ crews daily. In 2002, after a failed attempt to buy out another landscaping business, the previous owner sold a portion of the business to Flora who retained the company name and refined the company focus towards lawn maintenance while emphasizing quality work, customer service and professionalism.
Since 2002, we have matured into a full-service landscape management company while adding a myriad of services to the company repertoire. “We want to be the specialists our customers can rely on for any of their landscaping needs or outdoor desires”!

BJ Flora
PRESIDENT
Born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, BJ Flora loved athletics. Playing almost any sport he could growing up, but soccer ultimately won his heart which he played through college and passed along to his two kids, coaching them through their youth soccer days. He is a graduate of Bob Jones Academy and attended Bob Jones University for 3 years before getting married. He has been in the landscape business for over 20 years, beginning when a job turned into a passion. During his time in the landscape field, he has added certifications in turf grass management, hardscape installations, chemical applications, landscape design certifications, outdoor lighting and waterscapes. He enjoys working with people daily, both employees he’s able to lead and clients looking for landscape solutions.
Wes Myers
GENERAL MANAGER
Growing up in Pelzer, SC, Wes has spent much of his time working and playing outdoors. After graduating, Wes advanced straight into the professional world installing hardscape patios, fire pits, and retaining walls. Wes started with Cut Above in 2010 as a landscape construction team member but has quickly matured with our organization increasing his experience each year in all things landscaping. His love for getting to know and serve people is what motivates him to work on organizing Cut Above so that the business is efficient and successful in all areas. In his current role, he works closely with the team to organize company processes, and also works closely with clients to identify optimal landscape solutions. As our General manager, Wes oversees the day-to-day operations, employee development and customer service. When he is not helping develop the business or our team, he enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, Hannah, and two small Dachshunds…still living in Pelzer. (John 3:30)
Sandy Kennedy
Office Administrator
Sandy, originally from Illinois, has been working in the landscape industry for over fifteen years. She obtained a certificate in landscape design and started her career as a seasonal horticulturist at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Her career path led her to and landscape construction company in Western NC where she worked preparing estimates and designing small projects and season displays. Prior to joining Cut Above, Sandy was the front office manager for another landscape contractor in coastal SC. She enjoys cooking and gardening.
